What Rob says:
Having always loved building die-cast kit car assemblies and playing with Lego/Meccano as a child, I decided to embark on a career in Mechanical Engineering. I’ve worked in Engineering in some form since 2004, where whilst studying for HND, I started a summer placement at an Automotive components factory in Leyland, following up the next year with a summer placement on a fast-paced Truck assembly production line. This gave me an appreciation of Mechanical assembly and Manufacturing in a world-class factory environment.
After College, I started working as Mechanical Design Engineer at Bifold Group (now Rotork Manchester), predominantly within the Oil & Gas / Power Generation industry. I was involved in customer-focused after-sales activities on customer sites in EMEA (namely Holland, Italy, Dubai and Tunisia). I gained my BEng (Hons) and MSc through part-time study, and became a Chartered Engineer in 2016. I became Team Leader for Low-Pressure Fluid Actuation & Instrumentation Products, along with responsibility as Deputy Authorised Person on Ex Hazardous Area equipment.
I started as Technical Manager at Olsen Actuators in January 2024, and very much look forward to working with the team, utilising our cutting-edge technologies within forward-thinking industries, and providing Technically excellent solutions to our customer’s challenges.
Outside of work, I enjoy exercising and getting outdoors; running, cycling, playing golf and generally being active. My other hobbies include socialising with friends and family and travelling in the UK and abroad, usually in search of the next food and drink hotspot!
