Olsen actuators & drives

Performance & Impact

Our Approach

At Olsen Actuation we look at applications holistically and assess their long-term performance and impact, to provide solutions that are not only right for the present but also future-proof. We support our products and systems at every stage, from pre-programming through to commissioning and beyond – all for your peace of mind.

Whether you’re looking for standard or custom actuators to build into your own systems, or for complete motion control solutions that include inverters, positioners, actuators and control cubicles, we can supply exactly what you need, when you need it. Moreover, you can be sure that all of our solutions are backed by our unmatched expertise and our years of experience in actuator technology.

Superior Technology

Exlar GSX Electric cylinders incorporate a patented direct drive, offering the highest force density available in the market for a given speed. They feature an advanced precision ground annular groove inverted planetary roller screw mechanism with no conflicting friction. This enables high rotation speeds. The load is transmitted through the central roller and pinions/gear teeth, whilst the engaging spurs give positional repeatability to within 3 µm.

In addition, the stator windings directly surround the roller screw rotor, removing the need for an additional motor in-line coupling/parallel mount. There are over 300 million different permutations of actuators in the standard catalogue, with many non-catalogue options also available. Simply get in touch with the team at Exlar and we will create a bespoke solution to meet your specific challenges.

Superior Size and Efficiency

The patented design of Exlar GSX series cylinders means that their footprint is typically 30-40% smaller than that of other actuators, yet they provide 15 times longer travel life. The electrical mean time between failures (MTBF) is an impressive 205,000 hours – equivalent to more than 23 years! They also use only one-tenth of the energy of their pneumatic equivalents, and one-fifth of the energy used by hydraulic cylinders. When sized correctly, Olsen actuator solutions are guaranteed to have a maintenance-free operational life of at least ten years.

Superior Customisation
