Application
Dynamic Endurance Test Rig Solution
The Challenge
General testing, which is very static and is normally carried out with a set of scales and the mountain bike forks are used to measure the force. To carry this out someone will push down the mountain bike fork on the scales and allow the fork to push back up and then join the dots of the results.
The issue Carbon Air faces is that they have to demonstrate the benefits dynamically as well as statically. The test rig allows technical whitepapers to be produced and the publishing of the curves. Fully dynamic performance at a range of loads can be measured and recorded and then the product design adjusted to maximise the performance.
The Solution
The test rig solution which was provided in 2018, was created with the Exlar GSX60, the electric roller screw actuator is rated at 1.5 tonnes at 1m/s and produces up to a conintuos force of 15kN, over a maximum of 250mm travel distance with a peak load of up to 3 tonnes this was used to map the performance of product range and develop damping systems for performance cycling.
Carbon Air utilise the test rig to demonstrate and optimise the dynamic rate of the TruTune product range. Not only this, they also carry out a life endurance test, with a load cell that records the air pressure.
Demonstrating the results that the products offer allows the advantage of riders of mountain bikes to get ultimate control and ground hugging grip for unparalleled performance.
