The Olsen Actuators & Drives team celebrated 20 years of business with a few drinks and cake at a local restaurant.
Olsen Actuators & Drives was established in 2004 by Piers Olsen, a mechanical & manufacturing engineer with over 30 years of automation, actuators and electrical drives motion control experience with success in delivering solutions for demanding applications in some of the most challenging environments.
During the last 20 years, the company has built a reputation for delivering high performance complex electro-mechanical systems which have included customised patented electric actuators combined with power electronics and software.
Our goal is to provide our clients with carefully sized actuators and drives package, suited to the application specification. Throughout the years’ Piers Olsen and the team have been involved in numerous high profile applications including power turbine valve control, manned primary flight controls in the aerospace and robotics in the space sector, dynamic static and endurance test rigs for components and assemblies in the prime contractor defence/aero/mobile equipment sectors and injection moulding and dispensing in the medical and pharmaceutical sector.
Piers Olsen commented: “The business has evolved as we gained more experience, confidence, skills and competence. Thank you to the clients for having faith in Olsen and the quality of our products and placing orders to allow an SME to survive and have a chance to thrive. In addition to product sales, we have successfully completed 71 solution systems engineering projects. For sure distribution sales is an important core discipline combined with packaged solutions and complete control systems, although the key element and capability that is driving the growth is designing and manufacturing MADE in UK custom actuator solutions within the aerospace and space sectors including package of drive electronics with certification to the required DO160G and DO178 verification, including MIL standards.”
